    Description

Han Purple is a synthetic transparent blue leaning violet color developed and most used by early China for artifacts and pottery. This color is currently being studied for its quantum properties.
Han Purple has often been referred to as Purple or Blue and no doubt depending on how it is manufactured you could get a variant that leaned one way or another but I believe the most consistent take on this color is that it is a blue with subtle purple leanings and that is the approach that I took with my imitation of this historical color.
I haven't seen evidence of Han Purple being used as an oil paint, but you can still find the dry pigment from a handful of sources. It is a pricey color and somewhat difficult to get ahold of.
"All of my colors are handmade with only the highest quality pigments and cold pressed linseed oil. My professional oil colors are all formulated to be lightfast, non-toxic, affordable imitations of The World's Rarest Colors. I have used and studied all of the colors that I recreate extensively to achieve this goal. Each color looks and behaves in a similar manner to its historical counterpart, but without the downfalls of the originals.
Made for artists by an artist! "
